The stand-down penalty seems to be a relatively minor thing to split on…there must be a lot more to that story. I can’t imagine that WTC, as a business, gets a whole lot of return from forming the GTG.
I would think that doping is a significant “business problem” for WTC and so they want to institute a more WADA-like approach than USAT can afford to do in general. But couldn’t they just have asked USAT for a different level of testing for the “WTC-level” of athletes?
Now we have ITU, GTG and USAT. I can’t imagine that is what anyone wants (of those that care about such things…)
