Why no talk about IM France?

Coverage is on now. It seems that there hasn’t been much mention of this. But it’s a cool race, great bike course (so I’ve heard), Tim DeBoom is racing, and, hell, it’s on the French Riviera. So why no love?

Because nobody here but Francois can pronounce the names.

Kidding aside, I asked the question yesterday…I don’t understand it…and there seems to be quite a race going on at the front…

I’m very bitter there’s no multimedia feed…

Note also that there was an unknown French swimmer who came out first and then DNF’d the bike, stealing the show from the legit age grouper who hit the beach in the #2 spot. Very uncool. And now a bogus penalty against Deboom…

Francois has some 'splaining to do.

I guess the race just showed that maybe it’s time to have the IM worlds at different locations every year…
I have noticed more than once media vehicles just ahead of the leaders at the old IMFr when the leaders were french but then again this year they all got off the bike together…

Looks like Wingnut maybe overcooked the bike??? Just wondering where she went on the run…

And why is the coverage focusing on the men? There’s only been a couple of women’s updates…

Well, anyway I was under the impression (I didn’t check the course online) that they had removed all the tough part of the Nice LD race and they stayed on the flatter part to comply with what is expected at most IM races…seeing the pictures online, I was wrong. I don’t think they went to Col de Vence (from the pics again) but most of the 120km course in Nice (everything but Col de Vence) is there and some more…really nice course…

I have to say…this race is now on my IM list. Any race that makes road bikes almost mandatory, let alone a viable option…seems like a cool race to me. I never got to do the old Nice race…shame…

Absolutely. Looking through the pictures, I saw only one guy with a tri bike and a disc, everyone else was on a road bike with some clip-ons. Very cool. Except I hate descents. I’d lose many minutes there. Maybe I could just do the climbs?

How’d Bruce Murtagh from NZ do?

He writes for Multisport mag in NZ as “Fat Barstard” and is pretty funny. He a great bloke.

So far this year he’s done IM NZ, Lanzarote, France (last I heard he was still doing it) and has Roth in his sights. He’s also looking for something (IM) to do later inthe year as well, then finish off with IMNZ again next year.

Legend! “Eat More Pies, Drink More Beer!” Not bad for a 100kg pie eating geezer eh?
