I’ve been looking for suits for the season…all I see on here is talk about pi and castelli kiwami and various others. I never hear much about 2xu. What gives
My son and I both have some 2XU stuff and it works at least as well as anything on the market?
I haven’t heard anyone saying anything other that nice things. Have you heard any different?
Our Tri team has custom kits from 2xu. We absolutely love them, great quality and even better customer service. Plus their design team rocks.
I love every piece of 2XU gear I own. Top notch stuff
If it helps, I was not overly impressed by my long course suit. It just didn’t fit as well wet and the pad on my Desoto Lift foil is so much better. Surprisingly the compression wasn’t that good and legs were too long. On the positive, the fabric was very thin and cool. Just very disappointed at that price. Maybe their other suits are much better. I think this model was discontinued.
Don’t talk to anyone on NZ’s age group team for the WTF in Auckland in 2012. Host of issues associated with 2XU (or as one athlete said “2 times useless.” To their credit though, they seemed to have got the message & responded well since that mess.
I think there was a thread on 2XU stuff last year. Like others, I had a pair of 2XU black tri shorts that bled all over my white bike seat and a white leather kitchen chair (sitting down for a bite to eat after the workout). Got up and and WTF!! Never had any other brand bleed black ink. Maybe they’ve fixed that issue, but it was enough for me to put them on my brand boycott list.
The chamois in my 2xu suit got destroyed after 10 uses or so.
Never really heard anything bad…just don’t hear much at all…at least on the only forum that matters;) I really like the way the comp 2xu looks…I tried the pi octane today and the legs felt great but upper body was too tight…I’m stocky…don’t think I can run in the pi…
Do a quick search and you’ll find out why.
Basically boring. Look at Desoto…now that’s cool looking gear to wear. Plus the girls look hot in their gear. :-))
I had a bunch of 2xu gear that I bought last year. The shorts I had maybe twenty uses before the stiching completly fell apart. But they were way better than the tri suit that fell apart after about 5 uses. Add that the the fact that the lables started peeling off after one and Im not planning on buying 2xu again. Much better gear out there. I’ve got a Louies Garneau suit that has been washed 70-80 times and still fits great. That woud be my recommendation.
I have some desoto trip bottoms that are great…but I’ve worn them out this year becausevi train in them all the time.
Yep… I use to LOVE 2XU stuff. I have (had) lots of shorts and tri shirts… I still race in some old 2XU tri shorts that I save just for racing. Even have a few of their wetsuits. However, the last several years their quality control, especially on their stitching has gone to crap. I’ve had stitching come loose just taking it out of the packaging.
If their quality comes back let me know… Otherwise, for now I’m off to other brands.

I noticed a large regional sporting good store carrying 2XU. I considered that as a bad sign… meaning that they were going mass market like PI and not staying a specialty company. That store of course carried PI as well.
What I suspect is that they have 2 clear product “platforms”. You have their premium gear (that many folsk love) and you have their budget gear that some of use have unfortunately tried, and it’s crap.
On the flip side, 2 years ago for Christmas my wife bought my some 2XU compression tights and running jacket. Both are my absolute favorite. Fit perfect and have held up fairly well… following the washing instructions (hang dry only).

I have one of their wetsuits and it works great.
Got some compression socks of theirs that basically destroyed themselves after a few months, and I don’t wear them while working our or racing obviously. Just recovery. Luckily I got them at REI so I could just take them back. Switched to Zoot compression socks and they look new three years later.
Also have a pair of 2XU tri shorts, stitching started coming off on the side. Now they just sit in my drawer.
I’ve heard some people had good luck with them, but I won’t be using the brand again.

+1 on this. My sleeveless is a 2xU and I love it.
With that said - some of the tri gear I’ve tried from them has left me incredibly disappointed.
I have to agree about the wetsuits. I have a couple. I had one that the seams started coming unglued and 2XU was great to replace it under warranty.
The clothes… Again, I love their OLD stuff. The newer stuff (and only talking about the higher end tri-shorts and tri-shirts) is where I’ve noticed the HUGE difference in quality from years past. Really they shouldn’t come un-stitched right out of the bag or after a few wears/washes. I still use the older stuff (bought several years ago) but won’t buy newer stuff until their quality improves.

Tried their stuff for the first time last year with one of their one piece tri sutis. It was built nice and the material felt great but after a couple of uses it started to fall apart. I handwash and hang dry my racing kits and still had seems coming apart and logos peeling. They were nice enough to replace it under warranty (they actually even let me pick from any of their tri suits, regardless of price) and of the newer model year style. I haven’t worn the replacement yet but it feels dramatically different than the original in terms of materials, and not for the better.
