Why is the Cervelo Test team riding P3c's?

.

Because the P3C is proven.

I think production delays.

That picture is so sexy!

Oh the irony… They are called the Test Team but they don’t want to test the new stuff. That is what all you P4 suckers are out there for…

The P3C is a great TT bike, why not?

I think its a little different. They WANT them to test the new stuff (P4), but the new stuff isn’t produced yet(they only have prototype 56cm out). Hence its kinda tough. I am sure once it is produced they will be on P4s.

Yesterday they raced a TTT and didn’t even use the P3C. In fact, they used road bikes.

I think no team raced on TT bikes, not even the winning Garmin team.

all teams used road bikes in the TTT

Hammond won today! http://www.cervelo.com/news.aspx?t=TestTeam&i=TeamNews#1377

Everyone used road bikes to reduce the amount money spent on bikes that have to shipped to the race. I read somewhere that is the main reason why there isn’t a time trail at TdU.

Jeez … I know … for crying out loud. It was a joke.

Just trying to make it fair for the other teams.

funny thing is, the S1 is likely more aero than many of the other teams TT frames :0

Cerevelo Test Team?, so what are they testing that is new?, sounds like more hipe then anything else, Test Teams are suppose to test products before they hit production, that is the whole concept of a real test team, what good is testing something that ispecial that everyone and their brother can buy?

well, you just dont know what and when they are testing… lot of hit happen in training… and when it s ready for competition, you will see it at the race! That is a test team for you my friend!

Its not really a test team, when you see pro riders using prototype equipment in the peleton its to generate hype and exposure for a product before it is released. Cervelo are going to the next step by making an entire team of riders on ‘prototype test equipment’. Rest assured that they won’t be ‘testing’ anything until its been thoroughly tested properly by someone else on the quiet for a long time beforehand. As a sponsor would you take the risk giving potentially half baked products to your riders, only to run the risk of having them all fail spectacularly on TV?

i think you’ll see some fairly unique stuff tested by that team.

and keep in mind it won’t just be cervelo, so they aren’t just testing out the p4.

rotor, quarq, zipp, 3t, etc. will also be testing new products with the team.

I think the p4 sucks. p3 all the way

It’s a policy/strategy by the UCI or the event organizer to keep the travel costs down for the teams. It was similar to the recent Tour Down Under - their was no TT at all in that event.

To bring along TT bikes for every rider means a whole other layer of travel costs for the teams to get to those races.
