So the alarm did actually go off on its own, paying 250 bucks to have someone come out since the basement is finished and it is pissing outside

One of the primary pumps went down. Had a guy come out and replace it. Almost flooded in the time it took him to swap out. We had a real bad rain storm.

I bet you can pull a pump now, I wonder if it’s worth it to buy a spare for when the other fails. Isn’t this a newer house?

Wait two sumps and three pumps and basement almost floods when one is down? Did he have to switch off the backup while he was switching out the primary. If not sounds like your backup isn’t enough. Our backup runs on municipal water pressure so no lectricity required. Maybe not an option if you live in the country.
