Recently, I’ve noticed that my front shifter is getting more and more difficult to shift.
I removed the cable last night (it needed to be replaced anyway), and checked the derailleur itself. Everything seems fine, except that the shifter itself (with no cable installed) is still really hard to move.
Is it simply from the fast that my sweaty hand is always sitting on it and the sweat has “gummed up” the works? If so, what’s the solution? Dismantle, clean and lube? If so, with what? Chain oil? 3-in-1?
Also, a somewhat related question… I use Nokons, and the replacement cable I got from the LBS is visibly smaller in diameter than the cable I’m replacing (ie. the one that came stock with the Nokon kit). Is that going to cause me any issues using the new, thinner cable with the Nokon inner sleeve?
Thanks.
