Why is escape from alcatraz so much more popular than escape from the rock?

Aren’t these basically the same thing? Why is one masively oversubscribed and the other is still open with 11 days to go?

I read that string but got only the sense that they are about the same and the only diff is that one is on TV and got the rights to the better name. Would you agree?

i think it’s just the thrill of doing it. I’d love to do it one day.
