Why I live in the Bay Area

That’s the cool thing about SD… if it gets old, I can drive 45 minutes to the snow.

20 mins from town? WHICH town? Sure isn’t SF. And/or is sure isn’t $500K.

Los Gatos or Saratoga up on hwy 35 south of 9
and it was over 500k but not by much

Ah, that’s why it’s so cheap… you are out in the sticks (nothin’ wrong with that)! You’re 20 mins from a town that has an hour commute.

Your pad in an area that would be reasonably commutable would be $1.5 million. Scratch that. There aren’t any 1.6 acre lots, so there aren’t any prices, either.

To all you San Diego fans. Been there, done that. It was GREAT in the 80s, now it’s way, way overcrowded and expensive. Although… the latter will change fairly soon as prices get back in line with reality and fall by 25% or more. Actually, that’s already starting to happen.

It is sure miserable here in Florida too! Monk and I both have nasty sunburns!

I hope you didn’t start rooting for the Padres! Go Giants!

Ahhh, thats the quintisential cali lifestyle. Drive to everything, in lots of traffic. My kids can go right out the back door and swim, sail, waterski, kayak, sled, or bike.

Come on, what ski area is 45min driving distance from San Diego? Not buying that one.

Let’s just let them bitch and complain about how expensive, crowded, polluted it is. We can keep on enjoying it ourselves. There is a reason it is crowded.

you’re right, Mountain High Ski Resort is more like a 75 minute drive, and even better is that Slowman lives 13 miles from the base of Mountain High

Is that a 75 minute Tuesday 3 am drive or a 75 minute Friday at 5 pm after a big dump of snow drive?

I’m driving to North Lake Tahoe tomorrow after work and I’m guessing it will be a 6 hour marathon. Hope I don’t have to bust out the chains.

You’re pretty lucky if you live anywhere along the CA coast. Its the world’s biggest playground no matter what you’re into.

that’s a 75 minute drive just about any morning at 6am, which is about the time I head out the door if and when I am going to go skiing, puts me at the slopes in time for a quick breakfast and opening run of the day. If I leave later in the day, it is about an hour 30 - 45 minutes. For me the drive avoids most of LA as I go through Temecula/Riverside.

Thats a nice commute. I’d ski more often up here if there weren’t always 5 million other people headed to Tahoe at exactly the same time as me! The drive puts me off.
