Why don't I see xentis aero bars

The kind Al Sultan rides. Why don’t we see more athlete’s with them?

I would venture a guess towards availability and maybe pricing but I am not sure about pricing.

Wicked high price, bad USD exchange rate, no US distributor – yet I want one!! Check out Planet-X bikes (UK)…

Availability. Pricing is up there with Zipp, HED and other top players. They have imported some but I hate to wait 3 to 4 weeks for a screw or another small part if something happens. Zipp and HED parts are immediately available direct from manufacturer in 1 day.

I was about to order a set from Planet-X, but the exchange rate kept getting worse and worse. Keep in mind though that if you do order from the US to subtract around 17% for the VAT that is included in the price. That is how much you’d pay if you’re in the US. Helps a bit, but that exchange rate still hurts…

They are sweet though. I bought my wife the Xentis wheels, and the bars would match nicely! Then again, they’d look great on my bike as well.

EDIT: I sent Xentis an e-mail a while back and they said they would have a US distributor soon. I haven’t heard back yet, but I’ll shoot them another message and see if they got it worked out.

This fellow STer does:

I like mine…excellent hand positions.

I like the white hoods. Complements the bike nicely.

Just ordered a set from Planet X. The US distributor for Planet X (http://www.velomix.com) carries just the Planet X stuff, not the Xentis bars. Those still need to be ordered from Planet X directly. Anyway, ordered them on Monday and had them today! Shipping was pricey, but it certainly was fast. Man these things are light!

Of course, there is some bad news though. They are not to be mine… They are for my wife. She already has the Xentis Mark I wheels, so the bars will match nicely. I may have to get a set of my own…

Here’s a pic:

Those look nice on the Orbea! A great, lightweight bar. A bit too loud for my tastes, and the frontal profile is larger than some other bars.

Sorry to dig up this old thread…but saw the Xentis aero/base bar at one of my LBS, and am intrigued by its design.

Do any of you guys have it on your setup? Care to give a review of it?

Methinks base bar veeeery bad. No smooth edges, very uncomfortable and makes breaking a literal pain!

In addition Xentis filed for bankruptcy in January. Yes, there seem to be new owners but I would not be sure whether they honor old warranties.

from the photo posted, the base bar does seem to be quite “thick” (if that’s the correct word to use), unlike the more conventional base bars…thanks for pointing that out!

for warranty wise, that will have to check with the LBS itself…

You mean they “break” uncomfortably? Or BRAKE!!! Just a pet peeve of mine here on slowtwitch.

Used “breaking” for lack of a better term, am no native speaker. But I seem to have understood, “brake” would mean “break in two” while “breaking” would mean slowing the bike down. Right?

Braking will slow the bike down. Breaking will cause damage to you and the bike.

Stackheight is very low (may or may not be a good thing for you)
They look awesome
They’re light
In the aero position they’re very comfortable
On the hoods, they’re not. The brake lever and the ‘hoods’ are pretty angular. Not great for a technical course
Xentis are / were a pleasure to deal with and are great with warranty issues.

Didn’t realise they’d filed. That’s a real shame. Hope they manage to keep running…

I had one on my previous bike and the bar i very light and quite nice in the aero position, but the braking position is very uncomfortable. Plus in my case the tab that stops the brake lever from returning too much did not do its job so the brake levers looked off.
