on my cervelo dual - riding seat post forward - real tri position, it’s just hard to breathe, with the same level of exertion i’d have on my road bike, and I 'm out of breath before long.
went out on my lemond tonight and it felt great.
relaxed and powerful , just like his literature says.
Fit is an interactive process, and definitely NOT a one-stop session. Sounds like you have some fit issues that weren’t apparent to you in the initial session. Go back to your fitter and describe your sensations in detail.

I had the same problem - remedied it with a slight increase in stem length. Get it taken care of before your next long race 'cause this will prolly also interfere with your ability to consume fluids and food - at least that was what I found. Lungs and diaphragm compress the stomach - felt bloated. ugh.
Here’s an idea (I’m clearly making this up on the spot and have no evidence that this actually works) - get your next fit with a full stomach (you know, China Buffet or something) and try and take the deepest breath as possible while in aero position. This would simulate worse case scenario for breathing space.
in addition , the stem I put on is a TTT Mutant I got on ebay.
It’s made for the one inch steerer so I don’t need the shim, and it really looks good. nice curves on that thing and the finish matches the black head tube on my Dual.
the old stem was at +17 degrees - this one is flat.
I also took your advice and moved the pads out a bit, and turned the aerobars towands the center.
I felt really really good tonigh on it.
the only thing now is that my forearms rub the pads when I 'm up on the breaks.
so I 'm getting a 43cm base bar instead of the 40 i’ve got now.
