You would think that loosing one’s license forever would sound like a good deterrent to drinking and driving. But if you think about it, if someone is irresponsible enough to get caught driving drunk 2x (they probably done it 100s of times) then what makes you think that they would have some moral objection to driving without a license?
Like someone above said, I don’t think drinking is the problem. I think the problem is driving. The US is car obsessed to the point where our public transportation doesn’t exist to a point where it isn’t a viable alternative to the car.
Maybe a lower drinking age and high drinking age is the solution, let people become more responsible around alcohol before letting them drive. But I don’t think we will ever be able to see if that is the right solution, you’ll end up with the problem another person stated about out of state people getting drunk and driving home.
