I’m looking at them and would like your opinions. The only real bad things I’ve heard are they only hold a charge for 6 hours, they are ugly and not to EVER wear them with the lenses flipped up (= dorky).
I don’t own a pair but have used 'em before. I have a friend who is an Oakley rep… hehehe.
The things are simply amazing. By far one of the coolest things ever created by Oakley. If ran w/ music, I’d be all over these things.
I have posted several times regarding the THUMP. I use this unit on every run this year while training for Wildflower. The Thump makes the long runs go by so easy… Yes fully charged it goes for close to 6 hrs, depending on volume and MP3 file size. The sound is so wicked and there are no wires to tangle up while you run… AS for the flip up part I use this at the office to block out all the office BS…
By far the best piece of training EQ I have.
Let me clarify the purpose of the Oakley Thump.
It is a rich man toy. The question what if you want to run at night should not even come up.
The Oakley Thump is for the BMW (or Porche) driving american male who already has an mp3 player, an Ipod, and a palm pilot (and probably doesn’t know how to use any of them, but that’s beside the point.)
The Oakley Thump is new, neat and techie now, but it will be the joke of 2007.
If you really want them, buy them and don’t apologize for it. Though, you probably wouldn’t anyway.
My advice. Get a nice pair of Oakley Dartboards, buy a new mp3/radio, and get some cool looking earbud headphones.
If you buy them, fine, just take my advice and don’t let anyone photograph you.
Ze…thats pretty funny. I actually got a brand new set for $240. About the price of a good MP3 player, so $$ wasn’t the issue. Now the “no cords” will be really cool. And 30 songs, I’ll be in heaven over my current mp3 player that only holds 9. And I promise to never be photographed and tell you when and how I’ll be using them.
Got the first ones sold from Tampa Bay area.
I was pumped.
Good - Sounded great in the store and fit pretty good
So So- looks wise. I love oakley M frames, but these were kinda out there! felt a little weird wearing them.
Bad - The MP3 buttons and operation leave a bit to be desired but was adequate.
Worst - on my first run, the ear pieces would work themselves away from the ear leaving the music sounding tin like and weak. very anoying having to shove them back to my ear hole every 45 seconds or so.
I traded them in the next day.
“needs more time in the oven.”
