Who's racing at St. Anthony's?

I’m kicking off my season next week and was wondering who else will be racing St. Anthony’s.

I’m racing in St. A’s. It will be my first tri ever, actually. I’ll be the only guy in the 15-29 age group wearing a TNT wetsuit  What age group are you in?

We will be there and are doing our Annual swim warm up at the swim start on Saturday at 10:00AM. We have a nice big group and go over strategies for the swim and the race, give aways from sponsors and just good camaraderie. It’s free!!! Look for the BodyZen group by the park benchs. Enjoy the race.

i’ll be at st. anthony’s too. any word on water temp down there yet??

Im in. I will try to make that swim warm up, sounds like fun. For you first timers make you lower your tire pressure on your bike. The heat will raise the temp and pop tires in the transition. DOnt forget to pump them back up on sunday. I rode the course today and with the exception of about 5 miles the roads are nice. It will be a fast course

I will be there & will try to make the swim warm up. My son is doing the meek & mighty. I’m hoping he makes it through the swim!

The water temp yesterday in the gulf was around 71. The bay is usually a degree or two warmer. It supposed to warm up in St. Pete during the week, but I doubt it would be enough to make the water temp over 78 degrees.

I am racing head to head gainst BriBri at S.A.T. to try to redeem myself against the Gaal’s after the AZ race where I suffered a wopping defeat…

25-29

We are in the same swim start. I’m 26, BTW. If you want, look for me in the TNT wetsuit. I am currently planning on lining up to the right side of the swim start. Good luck and I hope to see you there.

Ill be there, I found out there was a small airport right next to transition so im going in style and flying my Cessna in, 1h45 minute flight versus 4h30min drive from south florida im all over that, wooohoooo

I hear there are a lot of turns in the race so do you guys that are familiar with the course advise against a disk???

.

I am there for the sixth straight year.

I would be stunned if the race were not wetsuit legal. The weather has been unusually cool this week, and the race is a few days earlier than normal.

I am racing as a professional. I am using a disc, but I am bringing a deep dish rear just in case it is really windy. The turns would’t discourage me from using a disc, possibility of bad side winds might. Good luck and have fun!

I’ll be there - second year doing St. A’s with Team In Training. I’m racing as an “Athena” so I’ll get into an earlier swim wave. Does anybody know why ALL the waves of men are going out before any women start??? What’s that about?

TNT Eric - come find the Long Island TNT group - we have by far the most fun at the post race party

Use the disc, no doubt. There are lots of turns but it’s flat and generally not windy at all.

With regards to letting air out of your tires, this is a bad idea. The mornings are quite a bit cooler than later in the day but it doesn’t make that much of a difference to tire pressure unless you’re one of those people who think that it’s a good idea to put 140psi on race day in tires you normally ride at 100psi.

The Westchester/Hudson Valley Chapter will give you a run for your money in the post race party and fun department. We’re the chapter who does seriuous dancing at the victory party.

I’m in the 45+ women wave which goes off right behind the Athena wave. It does suck that all then men get to go first. I’m sure I’ll catch up with some the 55+ men wave on the swim.

I’ll look for you! Good luck.

The reason the men go off before the women is that we don’t want those poor dainty women to be swum over by the studly, powerful men.

I am really surprised you would even ask such a question. You obviously don’t know your place.

Let me know your number so I can wave to you when you make up the stagger and blast by me on the run.

So, since this is my first triathlon, anyone have any advice for me? I think I’m fairly well prepared, but I am always open to last minute tips.

Thanks.

Eric

I don’t think the St. A’s waves were set up like this last year - I think the men and women were more staggered last year - I also remember really fast men passing me on their disc wheels. Doesn’t make much of a difference - I guess - it just might feel like a “women’s tri” in the water “sorry”, “oops, didn’t mean to kick you”…

Definitely use the disc.

I’ll be out there spectating.

Eric, it will be crowded, stay calm in the swim and keep your wits about you on the bike. Watch for people weaving and be prepared for the unpredictable. Run steady. Have fun!
