So I see my local cable provider (Cox) is now offering whole house DVR service. Unfortunately their website doesn’t say squat in terms of ho wit wirks or what you need to make it work.
Anyone use a cable or satellite whole house DVR? If so, what kind of hardware is needed in each room?
I use dish network. I have the receiver in my family room and it has 2 tuners built in. I use one tuner for the TV that it sits next to and the other tuner feeds through the coax system in my house. The upside is it works great and is very inexpensive. Down side is that tuner 2 out to the other tvs in my house is not in HD and that tuner 2 is shared by all of those TVs so they all have to watch the same programming. Also the tuner 2 remote has to be shared with multiple TVs unless you buy more remotes (which isn’t really very expensive).
There is a way to use the sling adapter to send HD programming to additional TVs and I believe it is not a big investment, but I haven’t done it yet.
i am using that cox one now. I dont like it. Just doesnt work as well as a DVR working alone!
