Who uses Training Peaks WKO+?

I signed up for the 14 day trial (12 days left) and uploaded 2 years of bike power data and run pace data. So far I’ve read a few things on the website and created a modified PMC as they suggested. This software is obviously WAY more “powerful” than the Polar or Garmin software I’m currently using. My questions are:

  1. Do you like the software/do you suggest buying it?

  2. What charts/data do you watch throughout your training to see if you are improving (power, speed, etc) or training too hard?

  3. Is there a way to see the power profile or line chart of 1 day (race day) of data? If yes can you split that data into sections like 1st 28 miles and 2nd 28 miles avg speed/avg watts?

  4. I saw another thread talking about TSS per day and other (RPE and rTSS) data points to look at. What do you think is important to watch?

  5. I’m not TOO lazy so if you have any suggested reading material that is WKO+ specific can you provide a link/name?

Thanks!

  1. Yes/Yes
  2. Performance Manager including daily TSS. Mean Maximal Power charts for power durations of interest/relevance.
  3. Yes, depending on what you mean. Yes.
  4. Many things but Chronic Training Load (CTL) weekly ramp rate is an excellent one to keep an eye on.
  5. Their website:

In my humble opinion the best investment(s) you can make to improve your performance:

  1. Coach
  2. Powermeter
  3. WKO+

All the wheels, helmets and dimples in the world won’t help if you don’t improve the motor and execute a good race strategy.

The 3 items above have helped me improve tremendously over the last 2 years.

Regarding your questions:

  1. yes, absolutely.
  2. TSS/ATL/CTL, Mean Max Power chart
  3. yes
  4. TSS / day is important to track fitness. Tracking your CP 20, 60 and 300 is important for planning training and executing on race day
  5. AC’s book has been in invaluable resource.
