She cried because someone had the audacity to criticize her and point out that she’s an idiot to expect electronic privacy in this era of the Fappening, etc. It’s sourced in this weird zero-sum world of “victim shaming” in which if one points out how maybe the victim could have avoided the harm then one will be equated with the perpetrator of said harm. It’s also this weird thing of intentionally misconstruing someone’s critical words in order to make the words seem far worse than they were. For example, Whoopi basically said “be mindful of your surroundings,” but one of Thorne’s retorts included a statement that such criticism makes the victim feel “disgusting,” and that taking such photos renders them deserving of those photos being leaked.
I.e., spot-on criticism hurts her feelings.
Or did you mean “who’s Bella Thorne?” as in “why is she famous?” I have no clue. I can’t help you there. I’d never heard of her until the past day or two.

In a nutshell, she took the pictures. They made it to the cloud, I guess through automatic saving like iPhone does. Some hacker got them and threatened to release them. She then released them voluntarily herself in an effort to “take back the power” from the hacker. One can decide for one’s self whether or not she succeeded. Nevertheless, in describing the situation, she seemed surprised/shocked that this whole sordid affair was happening to her. Whoopi expressed surprise that in this day and age, anyone, much less a celebrity, could be surprised that a hacker managed to get a hold of nude photos taken by the celebrity and suggested that Bella should have known better. Cue the “victim blaming” accusers chiming in.
There’s your story. FWIW, I have a 7-year old daughter who watches a lot of Disney stuff, past and present. I’ve never heard of this girl.

There have been two wide scale “hacks” of celebrity accounts that have resulted in nudes being found and disseminated. The first was dubbed “The Fappening” and the second was “The Fappening 2.0.” The first one was the result of phishing scams, in which the celebs received an e-mail purporting to be from Apple or Gmail and asking for things like usernames and passwords and to which the celebs responded. I’m not sure how 2.0 came about but I think it was the same or similar.
The “hackers” (I don’t really consider phishers to be hackers; rather, they’re just scammers) used the ill-gotten information to access celebs’ webmail or iCloud and other cloud-based accounts where photos on things like iPhones are backed up (usually without the phone’s owner’s knowledge, or if the owner knows then the owner usually doesn’t know how to manage the backup such that those pics wouldn’t be stored in the cloud). The scammer then simply downloads the pics and posts them somewhere. I believe that in the initial days of the Fappening, the pics were behind a paywall for which cryptocurrency was paid to access them. Eventually, the pics made it out into the wild and are widely available now.
On a personal note, I’ve never quite thought of Hope Solo the same since her pics got out. (I mean, I just heard about the pics, I didn’t actually see them…)
