Who is buying a new bike this year?

With the new season approaching and '09 model year bikes s-l-o-w-l-y showing up at dealers, who has that bike envy and is planning on buying a new bike. If you are, what bike are you buying and why?

I already did. Hopefully will arrive this week. Titus Racer X mountain bike.

Building one right now…just waiting for the rest of the parts to hit my mailbox/doorstep

I am not getting a new bike, but I did buy the wife a '09 Cervelo P2 Dura Ace (had to get the '09 she likes the colors.).

Hi,

Worst. Spam. Ever.

I just bought an '08 P2C and built it up for its first full test ride on Saturday. It was awesome, like a fast Cadillac. Smoooooooth.

No envy, just regrets.

1st bike too big; 2nd bike too small; 3rd bike still too big.

Will listen to experts at Xantusia camp in April and buy what I’m told will fit.

4th time’s the charm.

Would like to buy a new mountain bike. My old one was bought 2nd hand about 20 years ago.

But will try and hold off. Don’t think i will buy another 2nd hand mountain bike though unless it looks like brand new. They take a lot more of a ‘beating’ than road bikes generally.

Might even buy a mountain bike in the UK if i make it back to Europe. Paid 30pounds just to hire a good one for a few hours when i was last ther visiting the ‘Lakes District’. Surprisingly you can get better deals on mountain bike in the UK than in NZ from what i could see.

I am not planing on buying a new bike this year, but I was just looking at the Cervelo website and I noticed that they have brought back the P1 aero tri bike with a Au frame. The P1 is being sold as a complete bike for $1,750 and the P4 frame set (not a complete bike) sells for (when it comes available) for $4,800. I can’t help but think that no matter how good the P4 is, the guys at Cervelo are actually going to be paying their rent for the next couple of years with strong sales from the P1 and the P4 is not likely to be a commercial success the way the P3C was. pictures of the wife’s new P2C or it didn’t happen

Waiting to pickup my new Parlee TT frame.

Yep. My LBS has a 1998 Redline cyclocross bike in the basement, NOS. Mavic ceramic rims, old-school XT hubs/derailliers/cantilevers, and the frame was built in the US. Reasons: (1) Would like to do some racing next fall, (2) will make a great commuter, and (3) the price is right.

I am looking to purchase the Scott 20 Plasma or the Cannondale Slice. I am currently working with a fit guy to help me determine witch of two bikes will accommodate my body style.

I am selling off the 2007 Felt S32 and the 2007 Scott CR1 Pro road bike to make the purchase.

Already picked up an 08 P2C Ultegra on closeout. Only had it on the trainer so far - too much snow and road salt here in Eastern Canada to christen in with an outdoor ride yet. Would like to pick up a set of race wheel in the spring if I can put some pennies aside over the winter.

Thinking of a P4
Why? I don’t like having to lug a bike back and forth up north so would just leave one up there.

No envy, just regrets.

I’d like a new road bike, but since I bought two bikes in 2008, probably not.

Sweet bike Shane, your brother didn’t know whether you bought a CCM or a Super Cycle! You’ll have to come out with us when the snow and salt clears.

'09 might have me looking for a replacement for my current dual suspension mtb frame…for one with better race geometry. If so, I’m most likely going to buy used.

2010 might have me get a spankin’ new TT frame. Which should I get? Look 596, P3C/P4C, QR CDa 0.1?
