Who else is an A-hole when tapering?

I realized this week I am no fun to be around when not training. The good news is my wife now understands she gets something out of my hobby/obsession.

It helps just being an a-hole all the time.

you out of the house?

YES. I was even encouraged to buy a power meter for my road bike. I say strike while the iron is hot!

Not me, but everyone else seems to get more annoying, frustrating, irritating, you name it. It’s amazing how they all time it that way !!

Well at least the Cougs won their Bowl game.

A good reason I basically never have to taper since when I have, yep, not good.

Who the f***! are you calling a f**ng! ahole, son a b! that takes the …'ing cake, if I wasn’t racing tomorrow I’d track you down and show you who’s an ahole

(sorry couldn’t resist)

Another one for me is the “i’m 4 hours after a really hard/long workout” probably getting hungry, and pissy as all get out. That’s when my trigger for annoyance is the shortest.

Turns out there’s a reason: http://www.scienceofrunning.com/2015/12/the-dangers-of-doing-too-little-why.html

Not anymore than usual. But my sex drive kicks in big time.

Thanks for the link. I clearly over shot “the sweet spot” last week.

Dave, you don’t taper well because you have nothing to taper from. You are repeatedly on record as saying you train at low intensity so you don’t get injured. This means that you are not stressing your body enough to need the rest that tapering provides. Also, speedwork is an integral part of tapering and since you don’t do that this is another reason a taper is not for you.

On the positive side your fitness level based on your seven day per week low intensity training regimen means that you can be competitive in your age group at any given time throughout the year.

But because you eschew anything speed related you will never experience racing at your potential. If you are okay with that, great! Personally I prefer a smart plan that includes speed work so that I can taper and peak for an “A” race.
