Who carries a hand-gun while riding?

I just saw on a Georgia website : www.bikesbl.org “another close encounter of the 4 wheeled kind” carrying a 9mm is not a bad idea. I have thought about a BB gun but shit. let’s get the real thing, with permit etc. to be covered legally. And ride with the gun showing just like the red-necks have mounted in the back of their pick-ups.

How many of you a packing!!!

God bless America.

Hand guns are illegal in Canada. Thank God.

This is a fantastic idea because I hear people are particularly good shots while riding a road or Tri bike, or when they’ve just gotten off of one and they’re standing trying to aim in bike shoes with cleats still breathing hard from the ride.

I carry a stun gun, I keep waiting for the safety to go off and schock my self while riding.

i have a concealed carry permit for my state and am (obviously) a huge supporter of the right to bear arms but I have never ever considered carrying while training. I once had an incident with some impatient dumbass (I was in a bike lane blocking him from cutting around someone who was slowing down to take a left) and he flipped out, coming up behind me, honking the horn, chucking me finger blah blah blah. I flagged down a cop. If you have time to dismount, unpack your gun, aim and shoot, you are going to get fried in a court of law because most likely, you had ample time to get away and not be forced to protect yourself with a firearm.

I’m moving to Canada ;-).

I live in GA and I don’t carry when I’m riding or driving. I’m my 20+ years of driving, I can’t think of any time when having one would have been beneficial.

I wish that everyone that ever said this, even jokingly, would have to. This opinion comes from a guy who spent 7 months in Baghdad defending the flag that some very ignorant people are eager to run from as soon as something doesn’t go their way. Anyone who has ever said or typed this should be ashamed. You have no idea how good you have it here. You owe an apology to all these 1761 heroes:

no Canadians by the way.

It was a joke, so please don’t make of it anymore than what it was.

Please don’t bother trying to dress me down when you obviously have no idea who I am or what I truly stand for. What if I were the type of person that has sent over countless CARE packages to the military over in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not to mention the moneys donated to the spouses of fallen soldiers.

Keep in mind what this is and we will all be better off. It is just a forum on that wonderful thing called the internet. Try not to be so sensitive-we all fall into that sometimes, and try to take what is said with a grain of salt.

BTW-For what it’s worth, I greatly appreciate your service to our country.

I hope this doesn’t turn into a hijacked totally OT thread, but your post was totally uncalled for! If you’re looking to start fights about who loves the US and who doesn’t who should live and who shouldn’t then you need to jump over to the Lavendar Room.

Now for the subject at hand, never carried a hand gun, riding or otherwise, and likely never will.

you just don’t understand…if you dare say anything vaguely suggesting that some other places may be better for something than the US, then you are against the US, and should move your cowardly french butt out of here…

guns? no thanks…and I live in Good ol’ Texas!

I don’t carry, but I once rode for a team that had the outline of a gun silk screened halfway out of the back pocket. It looked good from a distance. I have a friend who packs a .38 Taurus, and he hasn’t had to use it with a motorist, but he did thwart a convenience store robbery in progress during one of his long rides.

liquidblue,

I couldn’t really tell if the concept of carrying a handgun while riding one’s bike was for purely defensive purposes or for intimidation purposes.

I must admit that since I started carrying a shoulder ground to air missle and launcher while riding my bike, no one has dared to “mess” with me. It is actually pleasurable to stared down a soccer mom who doesn’t think I belong on the road. They just don’t have the “courage” anymore to make their thoughts known. They won’t even try to brush me off the road with their minivans. Go figure.

I have gotten a few strange stares, though.

Sorry, handguns are entirely LEGAL in Canada, however, you must have a restricted weapons permit. They cannot be carried, concealed or not, other that from your house, to the trunk of your car, and to the range.

Hey, I’ll be over in the morning to help you pack ;-)!

One of the many reasons I have for wanting to move to Canada (vancouver or victoria) someday. My grandpa was canadian, so it should be too hard to get in, right?

What the hell are you guys talking about?." By the time you dismount" Isn’t that what those gunrests on the aerobars are for? Like a jet fighter aim the guns with the nose of the plane. Heck you can even use a two handed grip. Just watch the kick on the bigger heaters.

you mean, bike companies are thinking about releasing the B17 as a bike?
smart!

I must add my plug…

Vancouver and Victoria are the best places to live in the world (IMO).

Friendly people…incredible scenery…mild climate…mellow and laid back compared to big cities like Toronto…we have it all baby!

As for hand guns…no thanks.
