Whither the Aerodrink?

I noticed at a local tri this weekend (600-700 entrants) the lack of Aerodrink bottles.
Other than the road bikes, which were plentiful, I noticed few Aerodrink bottles on the tri bikes.
You don’t have to go back but 4-5 years when over half of the bikes would have had them.
My experience with the “new” Aerodrink with the smaller opening in that it rarely splashes and its other advantages are unchanged.
Just curious about what people have ‘moved on’ to?

horizontal bottle between bars. I resisted for a while but after the switch…its way more convenient, always in right place, always right size (you choose bottle), can take on course nutrition, no straw poking in eye, too short, up nose, etc…, regular bottles for easy change out…the list goes on… All in all it’s just makes way more sense and is way more user friendly in both training and racing and requires only standar equipment and accessories.

correctly fixed, thanks.

I’ll trust SeasonsChange.

Speedfil is the only way to go!

if you’re looking for more drag, a 10 foot straw to clean, to double the weight of your bike (or go on a 2 day camping trip), and just generally make your bike look like total crap…then yes speedfil is the way to go!!

Completely unnecessary for a sprint tri. Idk why people bring bottles at all. If I had a convenient way to mount one of those tiny gu flasks on my bike (and actually had the motivation to take my aerobottle off the bike before each race) I would do it, because I seriously only drink like 3 oz of water each race. 1 sip is all I need. No way in hell anyone actually needs that entire speedfil reservoir filled for a race that lasts <2hr.

Profile Design aerodrink bottle has been the single best addition of all my triathlon equipment.

It sure doesn’t seem to make Chrissie slower…

if you’re looking for less drag, a 10 foot straw with an awesome bite valve, so you don’t have to reach back for your extra water bottles, and just generally make your bike look pretty sweet…then yes speedfil is the way to go!!

Haha, to each their own! Their new A2 is pretty sweet as well, you should check it out!

Fully Agree!! The A2 would be a good choice for an Oly

No thanks…I’ve seen it…yes to each their own for sure. Gotta do what works for the individual and I don’t argue that…however I don’t like rear hydration systems either…I also don’t understand the need to carry ridiculous amounts on the bike for races. Training is fine and I do it so I don’t have to stop on a long ride…but racing is a completely diff story and triathletes carry absurd amounts on their “aero” bikes.

I don’t necessarily disagree, but I think it all depends on the race distance. I don’t do a ton of sprint/Oly races, but I do enjoy the Speedfil for 70.3 and 140.6.

While I don’t totally match your enthusiasm, I think the second generation Aerodrink bottles solved many of the major complaints people had.
I’d like to see a lightweight insulator added to it (think Polar bottles).

supposedly torhans is making one for their aerobottle
