I currently have a Zipp 999 wheelset and am racing Lanzarote this year. Everything I read here says don’t use a disc there, so I’m considering my options. Below are what I see as possibilities:
Buy a 404 wheelset and use that at Lanzarote. This is the lightest option. I’ll then also have the option of using these as training or all around wheelset if I want. Buy a 404 front and an 808 or 1080 rear. This would give me a less deep front and deeper rear to try to maintain some stability. Buy an 808 or 1080 rear and use the 808 front from my 999 wheelset. This is the least expensive option, but means I’m staying deep on the front (too much for Lanzarote?).
I weigh about 135lbs and I’m am not super fast, but will typically ride in top 1/3 of AG. I rode trispokes in the wind at Wildflower last year with minimal problem and rode the 999s at IM Cal this year with minimal issues. What do you recommend I go with?
