Ok I have trispoke tubulars and Mavic Cosmic Carbone’s clinchers. I am racing a 1/2 IM this weekend with some rolling hills and the wind is suppose to be 15-30 mph. The Mavics are 150 grams lighter than the Trispokes. I will average between 22-24 on the bike. I have done some riding lately on the Mavics and have not been on the Trispokes for 5-6 weeks and that was the only time this year. Which should I use?
Can’t get your hands on a pair of Roval’s? I’ve heard that they’re FAST!
I do deserve that…
Thank you.
I train and race on my tri spoke tubulars all the time. A 15 mph wind is a lot different than a 30 mph wind, as well as
the type of tree coverage the road has. Can you bring both and make a race day decision? I’m 205 lbs, and 30 mph
wind gusts will blow me sideways with that wheelset and slow me way down, especially when it is an open field next
the road and nothing to knock down the wind. FWIW, I haven’t gotten a chance to try this combo yet, but what about
the tri spoke in the rear, with the clincher rim in the front?
