I have a set of Zipp 404 tubular and a set of Planet X 80/101 tubular. I am doing my first half IM in June in Cairns and am considering getting a wheelbuilder disk cover for a rear wheel.
The Zipps look better designed with dimples and an airfoil shape, with the Planet X being much deeper but a straight edge. Which set should I run with, and which rear should get the disk treatment?
Use the 404 front and get the rear 404 covered.
I’d consider selling the PXs if it were me
Assuming the 404s are firecrest they are probably faster than the PX at nearly all yaw angles.
So yeah I would go 404 front 404 with wheel cover rear.
If they are the older 404s, probably still faster at most yaw angles, and I would do the same thing .
Be sure you have fast tires glued to them though. Tires are more important than wheels.
