If she can handle a tough bike and run course: IM Wales (early September). It has 65 slots this year. Actually, this might be the key to the question: # of slots. Not sure about the exact numbers, but with 50~70 slots in a race, you will have only 1 or 2 slots available in that female age group. Any race she is at her fittest, suited to her strengths, with proper race nutrition and pacing is her best bet. If she is looking for weakest competition you never know until race day. Someone that has historically not raced well can suddenly race above all the next year so don’t count out anyone.
I suggest start now, have her get her game plan together and don’t worry about dodging competition–just set it all up to be her best race day and let the chips fall. Race a spring race and plan a backup race later in the season just in case. If it doesn’t happen, she isn’t ready yet.
