I’m moving soon and I’ll be leaving behind my rec room where I stored 6 total bikes beautifully. The new place does not have a garage and I’m not going to convert a bedroom into a full blown out bike shop. Three of my bikes are carbon and the other three are aluminum. My plan is to store the carbon bikes inside in the office and the aluminum (mountain bike and 2 cruisers) outside in a small shed that I’ll need to make more secure.
This storage model is $90 at Colorado Cyclist. It can hold up to 4 bikes with optional attachments. The good thing about this one is the arms are adjustable for sloping top tubes.
This system may work but please let me know of some other ideas that are working for you.
Avoid this one at all costs! I had one by Seattle Sports and it was the most painful and difficult thing to assemble. Plus becasue it works on tension, you have to make sure your ceiling is either concrete or you place the rack on a ceiling stud as it’ll press into drywall easily.
I like the Delta Micheangelo one due to its simplicity and ease of use.
I have one of these and it works OK. I have mine in the garage with 3 bikes on it. The advice about a solid ceiling is correct as it will damage a standard drywall ceiling unless it is mounted directly under a joist–and even then it may mark the ceiling or make a depression in the drywall if tensioned tightly enough to hold the bikes solidly.
