I raced Ralph’s and used a 10spd 11/23 with a 53/39. I rode a 2:45 and I kept my heart rate fairly low, now I am racing Buffalo Springs in June and I am trying to figure out if I should run a 12/25 or just run my 11/23. What do you think??
It depends on you. Buffalo Springs is flat where its flat, but when you hit the climbs, you hit the climbs. There is also some wind to contend with. Are you a masher or a spinner? Personally, I am going to use a 56/44 with an 11-23, but that is just my style. I think you are safe and in a comfortable zone with what you have.
having done ralph’s twice and BSLT twice i’d say you are strong enough to go with what you’ve got.
good luck
11-23 should work fine with a 39.
You might think about trying to find a 12-23 as you should get the 18, which might work well for some of the lighter head/side wind stretches.
I’m not really an expert, but I think Buffalo Springfield Again, the band’s sophomore effort (which includes the classic “For What It’s Worth”) is generally considered the band’s best cassette. Although most people nowadays prefer the sound quality of CDs. Maybe you’ve got an old car with a cassette deck, though.
Or, as Gilda Radner said on SNL: “What’s all this fuss about violins on TV?”
