Yes, I have heard from him. He is apparently racing again and doing well. Says he is almost back to his previous level following his injury. Has a big race coming up in a couple of weeks, 167 km with 4 cat 1 climbs. He hopes to gather data from that race for us. If you would like more detail I might, again, suggest you email him directly.
