Where's Big Kahuna?

Is The Big Kahuna somewhere in an undisclosed location??? Unless he has changed his ST callsign, I haven’t seen him on the forum for over a month. Very unusual for someone like him to go cold turkey and turn away from the dark side of this forum! BK, have you sold all your tri-gear and decided to become a kite surfer or something?

He was on today somewhere, maybe he got a life, or out training?

His airline probably blocked the website so he could actually do some work while at work.

Poor bastard.

I think he’s holed up training, sleeping, eating and training again for Honu. No time for this internet stuff. That should be a crazy race. Tim is fresh off his great race at Wildflower and Peter Reid will be there with his stated objective of just going up the Hawi climb like hell of wheels. We’ll see if Tim can stick with him like at Wildflower. Than you’ve got C. Larson who thinks he’s going to stomp the field after he makes up for his 40 minute swim;) Hey Chris, if you read this I gotta give you props and if you run me down you can talk all the talk you want. And you’ve got me hoping to not repeat my Keauhou race and my “lets catch them on the bike and blow up” race strategy. Man what am I doing writing about Honu, where is the Big K???

Yeah Tai, good call, the Big Knucklehead is probably pulling a Peter Reid and holed up somewhere on the Big Island in total training solitude, writing his journal at night by candlelight. Yeah it will be an awesome race. The 40-44 age group should be very very fun to watch. Hairy Legs, Ed Price, and the Big Kahuna will all be killing themselves for that slot!

Hey Marty, hope all is well with you and the missus.

I did not see Big Kahuna (Tony G) on the Honu list.

Michiellie Jones is racing, and so too is PNF and Heather Fuhr.

I am not racing Honu for a IM slot - got mine already from IM Aussie last month.

Ed, Jay Paul, Aaron, Daryl and other fast locals will be very competitive for the M40-44 slot/s.

Aloha, Mark

That’s it - I am signing up for Hono 2006… Forget the European Ironman

Too bad you gave up your hawaii citizenship and have to compete in the non-resident field for your spot.

Who cares about a slot – I just wanna bang heads with the big boys…

Bump for Tony – I wanna see what the Big Kahuna has to say.

and how his super secret training is coming.

Hey Guys ~ The Honu Half Athlete Info Guide is now posted.

Marty’s mostly right, in that I’m working and training (20 hours last week, 22 hours this week). Lots of long distance stuff (and about 5% of total hours in speedwork) and I swim 5 days a week over at Richardson pool (by the Arizona memorial), bike 6 days a week and run 6 days a week, plus weights etc. Between that and my job, I’m lucky if I can get in 1 or 2 posts every other day right now.

I’m not doing Honu (too soon for a 1/2 IM), and if I can scam a comp entry to the North Shore Tri, I plan on doing it (I was the inaugural winner the first year it was held, so that oughta be worth at least a plug nickel from Chris G., the RD ;-))

My plan this year is 2 sprints, 2 Olys, 2 1/2IMs and 1 IM. Most likely I’m in for the Tinman, and any other sprint they’re putting on on Oahu or the other islands, though I’ve probably got to go the mainland for the other races (no problem as I fly for free ;-). Marty’s also right in that we’re up to our necks in dealing with antsy labor groups (they’re all scared of what’s happening over at United) and the general need to engage in some severe cost-cutting (never an easy thing for any unionized labor group to handle

Tell Theresa I said good luck for Military Nationals (I hear it’s draft-legal, this year). And Tai’s right about old Chris Larson and his rocklike swim ability (good Lord, but it’s ugly). If that cat could put anywhere near any kind of decent swim together, he’d be dangerous. But I classify his swim ability as being fairly close to neophyte (though he’s been working with Raul Boca on his stroke…waaaay to late for the military race, but hey, you gotta start somewhere
