Where are some good places to watch the TdF in LP on July 25? Based on this description from Active - it looks like this could be the perfect pre-race activity.
**Clear your calendar for Saturday, July 25. Stage 20 is the most anticipated stage in a Tour de France since the Alpe d’Huez time trial in 2004. The Tour hasn’t had a mountain-top finish on the legendary Mont Ventoux since 2000 when Marco Pantani nipped Lance Armstrong in a controversial finish. This is the penultimate stage of the Tour and the 13-mile, 5,500-foot ascent from Bedoin on the south side has the history and the profile to shape the outcome of the race. **
**All the GC contenders will have to be in top form as there is no place to hide on the brutal 6-mile, 10 percent section to Chalet Reynard (house of the fox). Contador and Evans will be watching each other like a hawk, with Sastre being the spoiler and the rider most likely to attack early rather than late. **
Or will the locals object to us watching bike racing in their town?
It’s not on there regular cable. I’ll have to find a gin mill somewhere that might have it on instead of the tractor pull. Gonna be tough ti find it. Might have to follow it on the computer, which is not that great compared to the the boob tube.
There is a sports bar that is near transition that had it on two years ago. I just did a google search and it maybe called Wiseguys? You may want to call ahead.
I don’t remember the name of the bike shop (it is not the Placid Planet bike shop) but it is on the right as you come into town. They had a big screen TV setup 2 years ago with the TDF on every day. And they had an espresso machine inside also! Perfect!!
Placid Planet has it going each day all month in the shop.
High Peaks Cyclery
Swiss Acres’ bar… has it on each day in the bar…or at least they used to.
Lap top
In the past, Placid Planet Bicycles has had the tour playing on a big screen outside the shop and we are hoping to have it again this year. I hope to see you here.
Thank you.
