Where to get TdF live on-line?

Any suggestions for the best site to watch the Tour de France on-line? If possible, I’d love to get the Bob Roll or Paul Sherwen commentary. I’d even pay for it!

thanks.

Get the TDF app from NBCSports. It’s $15 but you get live coverage. I used it last year and will again this year. Works remarkably well.

I did the same thing last year and will do the same this year. Very handy to have live feed on my mobile.

$29.99 for web access (or $4 per day if you don’t want the whole thing)
$14.99 for iPhone or Android

Its the full NBC Sports coverage so you get Bob, Paul, Phil and the gang. Stages are shown live then you can replay them whenever you want shortly after the finish (an hour or two if I recall correctly from last year) although the site is not active year round so you do get cut off a at some point after the Tour ends.

Sweet! I never even thought to look at places like NBC(?). I appreciate the advice from you and STP!

Does any one know if SRM is going to do that site where you can track the riders (the ones with their powermeters) on a map and see the wattage they’re putting out in real-time? That was so cool.

cyclingfans.com It’s live, usually the eurosport feed so you won’t get Paul and Bob. But it’s free…

Hmmmm…sounds like a win-win!!

There are also so less legitimate sites you can use like vipbox.net or livetv…only issue is you cant always get a good quality stream.

Last year, the Android and iOS apps were very different - Android didn’t get stage replays or DVR functions, but iOS did. Same price. Anybody know if that is fixed this year?

Correct. I initially tried some of the “free” sites last year but found the reliability and quality to be very inconsistent. Eventually went with the paid iOS app and was very happy. Money well spent.

In years past the NBC feed hasn’t worked for folks outside the US. Anyone know if this is the case for 2014?

In Canada this year it is on Sportsnet so not sure if they will offer any live streaming.

The NBC Sports site does say US only.

There are some well known semi nefarious ways around those types of geographic restrictions but I’ve never tried it on NBC Sports. http://gizmodo.com/5713626/how-to-watch-streaming-us-programming-abroad

it looks like they have it for android - here is the description from the Play store:

  • Live Video Coverage from Every Stage
  • Full Stage Replays
  • Real-Time Tracking Map and Profile
  • Short-Form Video on Demand Clips
  • Stage Results
  • Overall Standings
  • Rider Profiles by Country and Team
  • Stage Maps, Elevation Profiles and Stage Descriptions
  • Top Stories and Interviews
  • Official Tour de France Photos
  • TDF Twitter Stream

That’s my question as well. Really a make or brake for me.

Just purchased, u can stream to Apple TV, no chromecast. Guess I should have figured that, but still looks like a good app

+1

The app also allows replay of stages for up to a year after the Tour, either on the device or through Apple TV—on iOS devices, anyway; can’t speak for Android.

+1 for steephill.tv
