Where does someone who waited too long (for upcoming HIM) to order a renn disk buy wheels? It looks like I will have to buy a pair of more readily available wheels (Hed, Zipp) - which will cost more. Where did you get the best deals? Who was best to deal with?

Try renting them - many local tri shops will do it. I wouldn’t buy the wheels in a rush - you will probably regret it.
If you are interested in the Renn disc (good choice in my experience) you could try www.bicyclesports.com and see if they have any in stock. Sometimes he has them stocked if you need one soon. Performance Bike has a pretty decent selection of wheels in stock including my new favorite front wheel the Tilium SS. Not sure if it is still on sale but it was $265 for a while or Gary Tingley’s site has them for $285 including shipping if I remember right. I wouldn’t recommend the Jet60 right now based on my wheel compared to the Tilium SS. For other Hed products try

Shipping will take about a week and the Alps is supposed to be very good, very similar to the Tilium SS.
Keep in mind on a half you will save roughly 15 minutes on the bike leg assuming you are a 20mph person. Judge for yourself if this savings is worth the $600+ and possibly buying the wrong product in a hurry.
