Where to buy compression socks?

I really like the feel of tight shorts while running and would like to try some long, tight socks. Any idea where to find compression socks that may be mid-calf length or longer? Thanks.

If you are wearing compression shorts and want higher than calf compression socks why not just buye some compression tights?

I’m not sure I’m wearing compression shorts exactly…they’re regular cycling shorts that are, intentionally, one size too small. I do have tights but they are too warm and I really don’t want to run in them all summer.

I used to play lacrosse in tall socks… not exactly compression, though.

You might look at cyclingnews.com’s review of some Campy socks. They were tall. Or you could try some classic Gold Toe dress socks or something like that. I doubt you’re going to get anything out of it besides warmer calves, though.

You can usually buy them at CVS or other drug stores. You want 20-30 mmHg compression, which is usally “moderate” (I believe).

Don’t listen to people who tell you they don’t make a difference. They can be a HUGE aid in training. You want them to cover the whole calf, so just below the knee.

You can get them online through any medical supply website.

Great, I’ll check out some drug stores. I agree in that I feel a difference (not just heat development) when wearing tight clothing on my lower body. Thanks for all replies everyone.

Plus great for long flights. I bought mine at a drug store for about $30CAD, as I had a 24hr trip to IMWA about 3 days before the race - I couldn’t risk dealing with the swelling I usually get from long flights. They worked perfectly.

Diabetic socks?

I am not diabetic. Just looking for some long, tight socks for muscle support and comfort.

Yea but maybe they are what you are looking for. Diabetic socks are long and specifically made for compressin.

Jobst@ is one brand. Surgical supply stores often carry them.
There’s a foot website that has these. I think it footsmart.com.???

Just get em online, google venous compression stockings. Don’t get anything over 30mmHg. I like Jobst, Juzo, Sigvaris and Medi. The Medi brand is nice because they come in lots of colors and are more sheer like normal socks instead of the heavy brown look of the Jobst. Make sure to get close toe (vs. open) or they will slide up your foot a bit when running). You should be able to find some measurement guidelines to assist in sizing (i.e. calf at its widest part, caft 10 inches up from the ground, shoe size, etc.)
