Where should I stay for Pumpkinman-Vegas in october?

I plan to arrive thursday the 15th and leave sunday or monday…

Is there s something I should know?

It will be my 2nd trip to Vegas, the 1st one I stay at Ceasars, do you think its too far from racesite?

BTW, I will rent a car…

Thanks

We stayed at the Flamingo on the Strip last year…wasn’t too hard to get to the swim start on race morning.

If I was racing I’ll be off the strip. Try

Nice cleanand relatively close everywhere also QUIET!

I’ve stayed in LV for a lot of races, here’s my 2 cents…the big strip hotels are really hard to wander through with a bike and all your junk. I wouldn’t dare leave my bike in the car overnight. There are great hotels in Henderson, the hampton inn near Sunset station even has a few rooms with doors that open to the parking lot and are great for getting your bike in and out. Off strip hotels are about 45 minutes drive time, henderson is about 15-20 minutes less. There are hotels in Boulder…but as they say- buyer beware…

Try the Alexis Park, across the street from the Hard Rock. I stayed there last year for Pumpkinman. Clean, quiet and cheap considering you can get a room with a small kitchen and living room for about the same as you would pay at a bigger strip hotel.

I went last year for Halfmax. I’d recommend finding something in Henderson. We actually stayed at the host hotel (Hacienda Casino) in Boulder City - very convenient, but that’s about the only thing it had going for it.

Just got back from there and we stayed at a place that was just a little off the strip on Flamingo. Tuscany Suites and Casino. Was $40/night and the rooms were huge. Very clean as well. They probably had 10 buildings and tons of parking so you wouldn’t have to carry/roll your bike/gear too far. They also have a dedicated lap pool, albeit only a couple of lanes wide, but with no divider. I recommend the banana split from Marilyn’s Cafe at least once a day.

It sounds like it wasn’t too far to stay on (or close to) the Strip and still get to the race site early enough on the morning of the race. Is that a fair assessment?

I’m racing in the Pumpkinman for the first time and have been debating whether to stay on the Strip or in Boulder City.

Thanks!

+1 for alexis park.

From the perspective of a Las Vegas local, I would strongly encourage you to stay in Henderson at either Sunset Station, or Green Valley Ranch. Both are clean and relatively nice with shopping and other amenities nearby.

The strip and thereabouts is 45mins-1hr from the race site.

I’ve done the Rage in the Sage and Halfmax last year. Stayed at the Best Western in Boulder City (well just outside of the main part of town), and at the host hotel (Hacienda Casino). Both are fleabags, but at least the Hacienda is BIG fleabag (my room was very large). Hacienda is right there at the race site. Bad part is the smoke in the casino - but I guess you’ll find smoking in any casino you stay in. Henderson might be a good compromise. Not too far from the race site or the strip. That’s probably where I would look next time around.

I’m also a local and I would second Nate’s recommendation for Green Valley Ranch (never been to Sunset Station). It is nice, reasonably close to the race, and has an outdoor shopping mall adjacent to it. Don’t forget you have to drop you stuff in T2 on Fri so you will be making 2 trips, not just one.
