Where is your waist?

I just measured my waist and my wife just told me that it is higher than where I’ve been measuring it my whole life. I tend to believe here because I have freakishly long legs and have never worn my pants on my waist (it looks rediculous).

If it is where she says it is, then I am F-ing skinny!!!

Seamstresses use where the elbow is when the arm is down by your side. It should be about where your floating rib is.
I would guess that you have been measuring the top of your hip and that you indeed are f&*king skinny.

Hey Berry

That would be about 5" north of my belly button.
I think I’ll stick with the pants riding the hips.

My underestanding of this concept is that the “waist” as it applies to fit of clothing is different for men and women. Men wear pants more on their hips (or just slightly above), whereas most women’s pants are worn at the waist (which is above the hips). Just lay one of your wife’s pants on the table next to one of yours and look a the difference in cut at the top. Of course the popular women’s “low-rise” pants/jeans are cut straighter at the top and are worn on the hips.

Other way around, bro. Men’s waist for pants is above the hip, women’s is on the hip.

Thanks all.

FYI, 6’3" and 160lbs. I wear 34x34, though my inseam is 36". I wear my pants on the hips about 2" below the belly button. I have to constantly yank them down while getting tailored.

The 34s fit in the winter and are loose in the summer when doing heavy tri training. If my waist is where you say it is, then its 30"!!

there is a difference between pants waist size and your actual “natural” waist. For women’s pants, the natural waist is the measurement used to size the pants but they are meant to be worn on the hip, not on the waist (at least I hope no one actually hikes their pants up there).

Forget your waist measurement. If you are 6’3" and 160, you are definitely #%$# skinny!
