Anywhere I can watch the Lance presser up here in Canada. The OLN feed we get is OLN Canada which is airing some crappy travel show. Any internet feeds? Anything? Photos? Line drawings?Help!
Sorry, I’m no help. I’m watching it on OLN right now.
Ok, so would it be wrong to show some actual race coverage(maybe from Sunday’s Amstel Gold race) instead of more Lance Chronicles while we wait for the announcement?
Depressing thought: when he does retire, we(in the U.S.) can forget about seeing cycling on TV except for short highlights from the Tour.
Yeah - no kidding. So I make time to go home from work to watch the Boston Marathon on OLN only to find freaking aerobics from Iowa or something. Unlikely the Lance press conference will be shown either. They will probably show some cat show from Pakistan or something. Kudos to whoever is on the switch for programming OLN in Canada. Thanks for screwing up my day.
Perhaps the public will need to take an interest in more than just one cyclist hey?
At the moment, OLN (US) is showing old Lance Chronicles footage, just waiting for Lance to appear before the media for live coverage of the press conf.
I’m sure many fingers are poised at their keyboards to deliver the breaking news only seconds after the announcement.
It would be nice.
The worst part is, the press conference has actually already started. They’re talking to Levi, Bobby, Floyd, Andrea Tafi, and some others about the Tour De Georgia, but they won’t even show that. They’ll cut to the press conference when Lance shows up.
When Lance starts talking, you will know. There will be white smoke.
I am interested in more than one cyclist but unfortunately North Americans in general aren’t. Lance raced in Europe for several years and no one over here cared until he started winning the Tour. The North American public is only interested in the sport when a North American is winning. Once the winner is gone they act as if the sport is not worthy of their interest…until the next North American winner comes along. Then it’s “oh, yeah we kick ass in cycling”.Remember the boom when Greg Lemond was winning the Tour. Since LA has been winning their seems to be regular coverage of the sport. If he retires that will end until the next guy comes along.

You guys in the States are totally missing out on the steak eating contest currently airing on OLN Canada. Yeeee Hawww! (no lie, they’re eating fucking steaks with a stopwatch counting down time.)
Now that’s real tv.
Do you think we could convince lance to take up bull riding?
For those of you who can actually watch this, we need play-by-play.
I say he announces that he will ride the Giro, Tour, and Vuelta. Sweet.
My guess is that there is no way he will announce his retirement. That would be a marketing mistake because he could milk that cow until the New Year 2006 and continue receiving huge sponsorship money until then.
That’s my 2 cents.
Nope. The Tour is his last race. Just announced.
Oh man, now some teenage from Seattle is scarfing down a huge plate of scrambled eggs (not the home fries though, he’ll have to work up to that). Next they are off to California to cover a diner that makes really big pancakes. OLN Canada rocks!
Yawn.
And here I hoped it would be something really interesting.
Good for Lance, too bad for the rest of us since cycling exposure will go down.
But man, what the hell was with the suspense? Ooooh - I have a big announcement to make but I’m not going to tell any of you for another month. What ever happened to just making the big announcement? Everybody assumed he was retiring anyways. Does it take that long simply to book a place and get all the reporters together to say you’re retiring?
All this buildup for nothing.
Hrumph.
Now that’s funny!!!
I’m kinda disapointed by this in a weird way. I was also hoping that he’d go for the big three tours, throw in a stab at the hour - ya know, go out with a bang.
Yeah six Tours is something but how fast can he down a steak?
Boring. All that hype just for a retirement announcement? Booooooo.
