Where is Gerard?

Is he on one of those ten week Canadian vacations?

Without giving away his last name, does anyone know the fifth letter of his last name?

I believe he was going to see the finish of the Tour, so maybe he’s still over in Europe.

Also the second and third letters of his second name are the same. Now I would like a “V” for $100!

you mean the 3rd and fourth?

Damn! That set me back by how much?! I want an “m” to get back into the game!

I can’t speak directly for Gerard, but I do know that it is an extraordinarily busy time for any one in the bike business. 2005 lines are being finalized. Catalogs shot, designed and printed. Preparations for the Interbike trade show worked on. It is perhaps ther busiest and most important time of the year. It’s when you lay the ground work for a successful next year of business.

“ten week Canadian vacation”

Ha Ha, Ha Ha. Just to let you know, Canada has one of the lowest number of vacation days in the WORLD. I do believe that the US has more days off than us.

You must be mistaking us for Europe. Most get at least 4 weeks, not including national holidays. It’s those fortunate people that realize that life is about life, not about work, and don’t work like dogs for a meager salary. They’ve got it right, not North America. As the old saying goes, no one on their death bed ever wished that they spent more time in the office

OK, stepping down from the soapbox now

I don’t know about those 10-week holidays, but I guess it doesn’t matter anyway what the official laws of the land are when you are self-employed. But I did take my first real vacation in three years, and my longest in eight. Sometimes it’s good to refuel, as this industry can really get you down. I suspect any industry can, but I’m getting less and less patient with the hype and nonsense of the bike industry, especially with the carbon craze where it doesn’t matter if something is well-designed, well-made or even safe, as long as it is carbon people want to buy it. But two weeks of holidays and I’m excited to do battle again.

Gerard.

“Canada has one of the lowest number of vacation days in the WORLD.”

Even counting all those bank holidays during the summer?

Gerard,

So are you telling us not to wait for the Carbon fiber P3? :~)

Aloha,

Larry

WHAT BANK HOLIDAYS???

Let’s count: starting in May (not summer yet) may24th weekend (Victoria day, celebrating Queen Victoria’s birthday, July 1 (Canada Day, Our birthday) First monday in August, “Civic Day” which is only in Ontario I think, and then Labour day in Sept. That’s it, that’s all folks. Don’t know what special days you’re talking about, but if there are days that I ain’t gettin’ let me know

“Civic Day” which is only in Ontario I think

“Civic Holiday” in Ontario is called “BC Day” out West. Same day. No idea about the guys in the middle. For some reason I think that Canada might have more stat holidays than the US does though. When I worked in San Francisco it sure seemed that way.

Ontario has 10 holidays each year from memory,

New Years Day, Good Friday, Easter monday, May “24”, Canada Day, Labour Day, Christmas Day, (Boxing Day?) 1/2 of Remeberence Day, Civic Holiday, Thanksgiving.

Here in NZ we get Jan 2 off as well. I guess it’s because we drink so much on New Years Day that Jan 1 is hospital day and Jan 2 is recovery day.
