Where do you all mount your computer on your TT bike? I have a forefunner 305. I could wear it on my wrist, but I have the quick strap attachment where I can easily switch it from my bike to my wrist for multisport events. I was considering getting some sort of rig to mount between the aerobars. Any suggestions? THANKS
I have the edge 305 and mount it on the stem. Works great and it is easy to get on and off.
I use a block of styrofoam electrical-taped between my single-bend bar extensions. I keep it at the “elbow” of the extension, which lets me use a Profile Aerobottle without any interference. Cheap and easy to tweak to what you need.

Homemade: ipod nano packaging zip tied to aerobars. The piece fit perfectly between my aerobars. Garmin mount zip tied to ipod nano piece.

sorry for the crappy cell phone pic, but you get the idea. I use the velcro strap and simply wrap it at an angle around the junction where the stem meets the base bar. A mount between the aero bars isn’t an option as I have a bottle mounted there. And yes, I have two computers…the Cateye is the fallback in case the Garmin dies out, or I forget to charge it which is pretty often. ![]()
Not the cleanest setup, but it works.

nice set-up…but I am getting ADD just looking at your cockpit.
funny you say that. For a while I had the Garmin set up to show 4 fields when riding, that along with the info on my Cateye was too much to think about.
I changed and now just have one field w/ HR displayed…so now between the two devices i simply have HR, speed and distance. Of course, after I’m done, I download the Garmin and geek out over the graphs. ![]()
Right now my Garmin is on the stem of my tri bike. It would be easier to see if I could mount it like yours. I don’t have my nano materials any more but I am going to scrounge around to find some soft plastic that might fill the bill. Thanks for the idea.
Ok, I finally happened to get tired of the:
- Where do you mount your Forerunner questions.
- Not being at home
- Not having pictures.
So, here they are (yes, I was tempted to show some very NSFW pictures of my Forerunner mounted)
First picture shows it mounted on the bike:

The second shows the quick release without the garmin on

The third shows the “double zip tie” method to tie in something with vertical zip tie arrangements to something that
is vertical.

I’ve been meaning to switch out the blue zipties for black, but haven’t yet, which is good for these pictures because it’s easier
to see how they go.

Here are a few couple of pics of my FR305 mount…

First, I started out using a PD Aerodrink…

But, over the Winter, I rigged up a horizontal bottle to try…

Any questions, let me know.

I’ve got this one on both of my bikes. It works great. Pro CARBON Computer Mount Kit
Fits Standard & Oversize Bars & Computer Mounts
Screen=PROD&Store_Code=AVT&Product_Code=Cbn-ComputerMount&Product_Count=&Category_Code=
I like mine right between my wrists so I do not have to move my head to see it.

Do you guys not have any problems with the garmin launching from the Garmin quick release mount? I had my quick release mounted to the tray behind my torhans 20 and it launched twice on me the other day. Luckily, I was able to find it and it still works.
I wonder if the instability and flapping of the tray caused it and with the more stable frame/stem etc., if it would be okay?
I lost my 305 off my wrist quick release 2 weeks ago duing a race. Hit a pot hole and it launched off then got run over by a car shortly after. If it happens, go back and get the peices esp, the bottom plate w/the serial#. Garmin is replacing it for free but I had to send the peices back.
I have the 310xt. Mounts beautifully in my bars with the qiuck release bracket. Easy to put in my wrist for the run.
You don’t wear it for the swim? I would think one of the biggest advantages to the 310 over the 305 is that I could wear it in the wsim and use it on all 3 sports to keep my overall time.
I do. The 310 quick release makes it so u can remove it from the band and put it in your bike effortless and viceversa. Is pretty smooth.
I keep it on my wrist for TT’s and Tris. Makes life easy. Turn it inward to keep it out of the wind and visible while tucked. No fumbling in transition. I also have the quick release but that’s only for mounting on my road bike now.
I just zip tied my Garmin like your bottom pics (with the bottle mount). Don’t know how I managed before I did it.
