are these looked at as:

1.) Smart guy, choosing an inexpensive alternative until he finds the cash for a real wheel

or

2.) Dork trying to steal time when he should probably train more.

I guess it depends on whether you are passing or getting passed.

Outside of an aero helmet, a wheel cover is probably the best value in aero equipment out there. Paired with a used deep front wheel the cost per time saved is hard to beat.

As far as your two scenarios, I don’t think either applies.

  1. Some pros use a cover paired with a deep rear wheel because it is fast (Jonnyo).

  2. That applies to almost anyone that rides a bike that costs more than about $1000. Most of us should train more.
