Where are the 54 P3C's (rant)

I was in Tom D’s shop yesterday and ask him the same question, I wasn’t in there to hammer him because I know that it’s not in his hands but come on! I’m on a bike right now that I can’t stand riding, the fact that I’m not happy with my setup makes my training suffer! Thanks for listening to me this early, I’ve only had one cup of coffee thus far ;).

Should have kept that Blade, Jeff! Or waited for the Kuota! You gonna be around for the PATT Saturday week, or are you on call?

It would be good to meet up with you again.

Jeff, Are you racing AA Sunday?

JK,

I have a P3C 54 on order too…put my deposit down last fall. All along we have been told spring, which still has 13 more days. I assumed that it would be a bit later than that, so although anxious, I’m not to rant mode for a while.

…can’t wait!

It’s worth the wait.

I have had my 56 for 2 weeks now and love it.

there you go…I’m trying to exhibit patience and you rub it in!!! Is your’s stock spec’d?

I just got the frameset.

It now has SRM, Hedbars and DA10.

Patience…all good things etc etc

jk allen…I have a Kouta and I hate it! I’ve had nothing but trouble with it since I got it. I have 9 speed DA on it and you would not believe the noises that the bike makes in the drive train. The guys at Bikesport can’t figure it out.

A company that has no idea what is going on in it’s production facility ( Cervelo ) and mass responds to customer’s requests via email has no place in my cash flow.

The Blade will be ready in 10 days all specked up and will post some pics.

Regards to Nytro for tremendous service.

Why do you say they don’t know what’s going on? I’m sure they do know. All I’ve ever seen anyone from Cervelo say was that P3Cs would be available in the Spring. As far as I can tell, they delivered. They didn’t say every size would be available immediately, but they have been saying for some time now that the 56’s would be first out.

What’s the problem? Would you prefer they rush the product out with potential problems and piss off their customers that way?

54? They are focusing on adult size for the time being.

Fair enough Justin…you are entitled to your opinion.

Personally though , I don’t find the following response acceptable " P3Carbon and R2.5 Cross:Yes both of these are coming , but we have no more information on these two models than what can be found on our website . When more information becomes available , we will immediately put it up there. "

My argument is that a company that manufactures bicycles , surely knows when these models will become available to a retailer who has an order with them. Irrelevant as to whether the order is for 2 or 20. I find it hard to believe that Cervelo does not know what is happening in their Taiwanese managed or owned , mainland China ( or wherever production is taking place ) based factory.

Common business practice dictates that if demand is 10 000 units and we are starting with larger sizes and working our way down in sizes , that the bike should be available between x and x.

This is not the case. I am fortunate enough to have up to USD$ 7000 to spend on a bike. I am not about to spend time here argueing the matter , the problem is over and solution found. As a potential customer I feel Cervelo could have handled this in a far more professional manner.

Fair enough…

Personally, I think you are over looking the fact that a few months ago production versions of P3C’s did not exist in any size. Once production is fully spun up I’d agree your argument has some validity, but prior to the first bike (in a particular size) even being available to retailers? Would your rather they throw out a date, then fail to meet to that date?

Comparing the release of a brand new design, to the availability of an existing design (Blade) hardly seems appropriate. I understand you want a bike now, and the P3C isn’t available in your size yet, but I hardly think Cervelo screwed up in that regard. They just simply don’t have a bike to sell yet. That’s not a screw up, but a reality of bringing a product to market. I’m sure a lot of P3C wannabe owners went elsewhere this winter as well, not wanting to wait, but again that doesn’t mean Cervelo screwed up.

I’m not aware of a professional way to answer an unanswerable question expect to say you do not know the answer. If delivering a quality carbon bike were as simple as throwing out a date, everyone would do it and R&D would be done by monkeys.

Thanks for your feedback Justin .

…can’t wait!
I’ve heard end of July for the 54’s.

Justin,

I think you misunderstood what I was trying to get across. I understand the issues with Cervelo and the lack of shipment of my bike and yes I want a bike that is top notch quality, I’m more/less bitching to bitch, hopping that it will make me feel better  When I said that they don’t know what was going on I was referring to the guys at bikesport with the noise in the drivetrain of my Kuota Kalibur. I’ve had Mke A., MIke O., Tom and even Superdave try to fix it and they can’t!!! I think I just have a bad frame. That is why I can/will wait for my p3c to be right and not rushed.

What are You waiting for? Just ask Your Dealer to fix the problem through Your national distributor.

If so many experts guys are unable to fix the problem that’s the way to follow.

Sory for my bad english.

I have a 58 on order, I contacted the retailer where the order is placed about two weeks ago, the reply included an email from Cervelo where it said that they expected 54s and 58s to ship middle to end of June. I think it will be worth the wait , but patience isn’t my strongest trait.

I ordered a 58cm P2K and was told the same thing. I was fine with the wait till I started reading some of these horror stories about bikes not being ready in time. I have a race in August I want to use the as yet unobtained bike in. I hope it will be here by then.

I gotta say I’ve had just the opposite experience with my Kuota - it’s the quietest, smoothest shifting bike I’ve ever owned. I have DA 10 speed with an FSA crankset. I thought about waiting for a P3C, and am very glad I didn’t. I wanted a lighter setup for Lake Placid, and I’m very, very happy with the bike.
