Obviously, there are LeMond branded stuff, but Armstrong is a 7 time TdF winner, more visible publicly, and more current
I am surprised there aren’t Armstrong branded bicycles, bike trainers, etc.

It essentially already exists, but through Livestrong rather than “Lance Armstrong.”
Also, for 2012, Trek has a line of Livestrong bikes.

i’ve also been wondering, for a long while now, when we’ll see a lance-armstrong-branded run for public office. new governor of texas, anyone?
anyway, i think with livestrong he’s also to rent that out to nike (and trek) in much the same way that michael jordan did for all those years. probably saves him a lot of hassle and is a win-win for both companies - colossal world-wide distribution, best in-house designers on earth, and pretty low exposure if the brand/product fails. i’m sure he and nike (and trek) are all making so much $ for one another that nobody’s in a hurry to change, although i’m sort of surprised trek doesn’t push it a bit more: you can get leopard and radio shack versions of their best bikes, but not ‘lance’ versions . . . seems like that’d be a no-brainer.

Slowman can we have a Lance Armstrong sub-section of this forum…its turning into a bit of a joke all these armstrong threads.
Maybe LeMond’s Q score is better than Armstrong’s.
The add wold have to read “24:06 Holy Liv!” because anything endorsed by the man LA would obviously produce the first sub-4 bike leg at Kona!
We will see after Novitsky decides what he is doing
.
Pretty much it, my guess is that LA makes way more from Trek than he ever could making his own bikes. Aside from that their is way mre money to be made in softgoods.
He really has the best of both worlds, he likely gets a % of every bike and clothing item he sells and if disaster hits then his sales will go down to 0 and he gets nothing. If he owned the factory adn R&D he would be in debt under that same situation.
I am not suggesting, LA start his own bike company. Surely he could license his name out to an established company. Yes there is livestrong, but wouldn’t lance armstrong, or armstrong bikes and bike trainers be better marketing. Like LeMond
Lance Armstrong who?
Lance Armstrong who?
What a Wonderful World, Ain’t Misbehavin, When the Saints go Marching In…you know… Lance Armstrong!

When Lance was basically on his death bed, Team Cofidis abandoned him leaving him with no health insurance.
Trek, Giro, Nike and Oakley all stepped up and got him health insurance and the ability to get better cancer treatment that saved his life.

I believe that was Oakley by themselves.
LA did not have any association with Trek at the time. He did not sign with USPS until after he had recovered from his cancer. I think the same holds for Nike, but I could be wrong on that one. However, Nike did not sponsor USPS until 2000.
Further, Cofidis did not “abandon him” until some time in 1997, IIRC after he had gone through at least some of his treatment. He was included in all of the team photos / promotional material for the 1997 team launch.
Thanks Power13 for the corrections !!
I thought it was all 4 companys that helped out. (I am known to be wrong often, just ask my wife…)
LA has a HUGE female fan base. I went to a wedding where the table favours were Livestrong bracelets two weeks ago. I’ve seen women cyclists wearing whatever Lance is wearing. So if/when you see this come out, I think you’ll see loads of it in womens sizes.
Their are 2 livestrongs IIRC, one a charity one for profit. I can’t think of a better branding to make money than to have a brand most people assume is going to charity.

They already exist. It’s called Trek.
