When will I learn how not to bonk?

You are describing something that used to happen to me. You may want to go to the doctor. I ended up being borderline hypo-glycemic. I have to eat before I train or it is a huge disaster.

Now, I eat just a little something, maybe some toast with peanut butter and honey and have some coffee and h20. I’m fine then, but I make sure to eat immediately following the workout also.

I think this is all a result of the fact your seat is too high.

  • Bonking doesn’t really feel like low blood sugar. When you bonk you just feel spent, like you can’t go any further. Low blood sugar makes you feel rummy; almost like you’ve had a few*.

Depends on the person. When my BG goes low I can pass through the slightly drunk stage into the completely spent stage in a couple of minutes.

I agree there can be different responses. When I have low blood sugar I get very discouraged, just want to quit and go home.
