I am wondering if any of you breakup your bike workout to accomode your number of necessary bike miles once there is less light. I was thinking something along the lines of get up at 4:00-4:30 and ride the trainer for 60-90 minutes, then ride outside for another 60-90 minutes…anybody do this? The other way around would be for the end of the day to ride outside, then finish it up with the trainer?
that’s me. I do 60 - 90 mins. on the rollers and then 45 - 60 on the commute to work. I alternate days between my road and track bikes on the rollers to keep my legs used to both bikes. no adaptation required when the drome is dry enough to ride.
Not only later sunrise, but the kids soccer season starts Saturday so I’ve got to be home earlier too. Charged the battery on my light and will go with that. It’s neat to ride when there is little traffic except I worry about the drunks. I pick roads where I’m passed by maybe one or two cars per hour. If they come from behind I slow down, watch carefully in mirror and prepare to drive off road if necessary. Sunrise is really fun.

I do that sometimes in the spring when it is cold enough that I don’t want to spend 3 or 4 hours outside riding so I put in an hour or two then finish off in the basement. It is better than riding the whole thing indoors.
