Wheelset help? Are these any good?

Anyone use these or bought them? Price seems good ($400). Weight is very good(1442) I am building up a road bike for longer distance rides and climbing. Price is first concern, reputation\recommendation is second, durability and weight is tied for third and aero is my least concern.

Never tried them, but have heard lots of good things about Neuvation.
Look pretty light too.

Check your math. Your weight is off by 100g.

The hubs are made by Novatec and are very good. I have a set that was sold by Mike Garcia with custom built wheels with nearly 10k miles. Search the web for reviews of Speedcific Perception hubs for more info on them. They are generally well regarded. I would buy another set in an instant for a new wheel build.
The rims may be the 27mm KinLin rims, which are very good, but I think that those are pinned. The ebay page lists these as welded, so I dont know what they would be. FWIW, welded is better.
The spokes are probably Pillar, which is a Asian spoke company. People poo’ed on them for years as being crap compared to DT and Wheelsmith, but I think that they have pretty well refuted that over time. If they are not Pillar, then I dont know what they would be.

I have a set of these hubs built with DTRR1.1 DT Rev spokes and Comps on the DS back with Al nipples on all but the DS back. They weigh in at about 1530g IIRC. If these use brass all around, it sounds reasonable for these to come in around 1540 or so with the components listed, but I wouldnt be surprised if they hit 1600.

For $400, I would consider a used set of Record hub wheels off of ebay. If you want new, these are probably OK. They were probably machine built, so plan on getting them retensioned and they should last a long time.

Their wheels are meant to be disposable. Ideal for crits where you walk to the finish line with a taco in hand.

I looked up the weight on the vuelta website that the ebay add references and it is listed as 607/835 for the road team super-lites. I sent the seller a question regarding the weight. Something must be different. I’ll check out the record hubs you mentioned. Thanks, Mark

If you shop around, you can frequently find Easton EA70s for $400 or less, shipped. I don’t know how they compare to Vuelta Team SL, but I’ve been very happy with mine.

i think those are what came on my bikesdirect.com (nonprofit salary) road bike. the frame and ultegra components of the bike have been great, but i found the vuelta wheels to kind of suck. within a year was blowing out multiple spokes on the rear wheel; rather than have it rebuilt i opted to upgrade to some new mavic open pros with ultegra hubs and havent had a single issue since. from what everyone says and what they’ve been like so far, i think the extra cost of the open pros relative to those vueltas) will more than be defrayed by their longevity.
