Wheelset Craziness - You pick the winner

If the Aeolus was a front I’d rock that and a wheelcover
.

The HED Stinger, by far.

I’m a big fan of the Eastons. I ride them (and sell them too). I find them very rigid and I like that they are clean inside with little or no material left behind from the manufacturing process (no excess weight and nothing to punch through when you mount the tire).

$1000 is pretty amazing.

Going to second the call for the Eastons. I just got mine mounted this week, and boy, they are nice wheels. I’m actually riding the Aero, not the TT. With the exception of the front hub, they’re identical. Also got ‘em, brand-spankin’-new, for a grand. They don’t quite match up to the bling factor of a Zipp 606, but I couldn’t tell any difference between these and the 606. Unfortunately, I’ve never ridden Hed 90s, but I know the 60s are MAGIC.

I was presented with the same decision, and I went with Easton for two reasons: 1) First, I ride easton EA90SLs (their lightest clinchers), and after nearly three thousand miles, when I was having the hubs taken care of, the wheels were still PERFECTLY true. Incredible! 2) Second, I ride Circuits on my roadie, and they are just bombproof. I did nearly twenty miles of cyclocross riding on rocky, dangerous road today on them, with my tires at 115 psi, and they didn’t complain once. Easton has won over my heart with the quality of their wheels.

Stingers.

EC90’s.

their new hub is alot stiffer, making it so when you raise off your saddle to sprint there will be less lateral movement of the wheels and it wont rub on the break pads. Hence, best bang for the buck.

go and watch their video.

anyways, that is my 2 cents

leo

stingers.

though if you’re tight on money, go with the aeolus. they’re made by hed and have that nice toroidal shape.

eastons are not worth it for that reason.

Easton EC90 TT @ $1,000? Where?

get 2009 model HED stinger 6 / 9 combo- more aero than 2008. don’t leave free speed on the table.

Where are you getting Stingers for $1100? Are they used? Are they 08 or 09? I really want to pick a pair up. As you could guess, I would go with the Stingers…they rock even at list price

I am a big fan of the Hed Stingers. I have had Stinger 60/90 combo in the past (older version) and was very happy. Just make sure to change your brake pads when you use them.

I have also had a 606 tubular set. Nice, but I think they are overpriced.

I don’t know too much about the Eastons, other than I have heard they are pretty bulletproof.

I would go with the Stingers and save a few bucks.
