Wheelcover for Hed 3?

Would it help on the rear wheel and can it be done?

chris

Yes, people have done it. You basically just tape some material in the openings and essentially mimic the HED 3D which was made for awhile. I have no idea if it’s worth the hassle though.

I was thinking more along the lines of a wheelcover like the ones from wheelbuilder.com. I know they usually make one side flat and one side like a contact lense, but I thought maybe they could just make something for this particular wheel. Just seeing if anyone else has tried it or thought about it. I guess I would wonder about the weight issue since H3’s are already on the heavy side. Would it outweigh the possible benefit and just be better to get a disk or would it make it a worthwhile option on the ride days? This all assuming wheelbuilder could make something that would work.

Why not try asking the folks at Wheelbuilder.com?

I did, but as it being a Holiday weekend no answer.

Per one of the Tech’s at HED I have conversed with in the past, the more aero the frame, the less of an advantage a Disc has over an H3.
Can Wheelbuilder make a disc cover for an H3? I’m not sure. I would think it would have to be a completely different design to work properly
so my guess is no. I think you would be better off spending your money on a Aero helmet if you don’t already have one. That would have a
much higher ROI IMO.
