Wheel set for Pocono 70.3

What would be better for wheel sets ? I am thinking about Hed 3 or 1080 front and sub9 rear. But also thinking maybe do clinchers with either a fp60mm set or fp40mm set. Maybe a 60mm rear 40mm front. Reason behind clinchers is condition of the roads. Ease of changing tubes and cost of a tubular are main reason’s but climbing does come into it a bit. Maybe kysruim sl 's ?Here is bike course profile.

C’mon none of you smart peeps have a suggestion here?

Best set you mentioned would be the 40X60mm. Light, reasonably aero. Tubulars will be much more comfy.

They are clinchers and have the specialized top of the line tire on them. Thinking with my limited skills and road condition it would be easier and faster to change a tube for me.

hed 3+ sub 9
.

Reason?

aero is going to trump weight on this course

hed 3= good at a lot of yaw angles and will be manageable with the sub nine rear.

From what I’ve heard.

I vote for some Michellin Duroadmax 80K miles tires. The recommended PSI is 35 but carrying a spare sucks.

If the weather goes south, some Blizzak winter tires.

We will see I am going on rcon maybe Tuesday. I will check out all descents and corners. Along with looking for road hazards.

So do you think the sub9 / h3 combo. But upon going there and checking out the course there are a lot of rolling hills where you can carry your momentum. So it would be a good choice. BUT…lots of dangerous areas at the bottom of the hills with potholes , gravel, uneven pavement and turns so you need to slow down and lose momentum going back up. So now I ask would the lighter set be better suited ???

ugh…not liking what im hearing about what’s waiting for us at the bottom of the hills. this sucks!

If it rains and the trees unload it will be wet leaves all over the road also. As it is now on a very sunny day like today the sun threw shadows all over the road making it hard to read the road ahead of you.

even so, the aerodynamics from the hed3 + sub 9 are going to significantly offset whatever you lose from the accelerations.

btw, there’s nothing worst than busting your butt climbing a hill and then enjoying the ride down on the other side, but guess what. there’s a freaking turn at the bottom of the hill. i did the harlem valley rail century ride two/three years ago and i believe there were two or three of these 90 degree turns at the bottom of the hill, absolutely sucks. last year, i did the golden apple ride and i remember going 35 down one hill and having to make a 90 degree right turn. i was lucky i didnt get into a crash as there were riders riding across the bottom of hill and i nearly crashed into them.
