Wheel Mfg adaptor does not fit any more

I’ve been using the hard plastic Wheel mfg BB30 to gxp adaptors to run my gxp quarq on my Shiv. They other day I swapped the crank onto another bike. Two days later I went to put the crank back on the bike with the adaptors and the crank won’t fit. I pulled the adaptors out of the bottom bracket and the left side one won’t go on. This happened to me about a year ago and I just chalked it up to something very weird going on but now that it has happened a second time I’m beginning to wonder.

Has anyone else ever had this happen to them? Its almost like the interior diameter has shrunken. Very very strange.

Is there a big temperature difference between the crank you are re-installing and the frame? I don’t know what the tolerance is on the gxp adapters but it might be close enough that if the adapters are warm (like room temperature) and the bike has been in the cold garage that the adapter might have expanded and the bb bearing shrunk. Try letting everything stabilize to the same temperature and then re-installing. You could take this further by putting the adapter in the freezer and the bike in the house before the re-installation.
