Wheel Decision in next 2 hrs

Alright, I need to make a decision in the next two hours, I want a powertap, built up in a set of wheels that I can train and race on. I am considering going with the American Classic 58 clinchers. I do a lot of road races so was concerned about their weight 1800g coming out of corners on crits. I am a pretty succesful in sprint events and would hate to downgrade here. Edge is not an option, any other suggestions?

Are you concerned about the depth of your rear wheel for crits?
Are you racing Kona?

If you answered yes to either of those, then you’ll want a deep (carbon) rim. Flashpoint, ZIPP, American Classic, HED, and others are options, your limiters are price. I’d go to Wheelbuilder.com.

If you answered no, then get a DT Swiss 1.2. It’s got an aero shape for the road races, is a bombproof trainer, and the aero shape provides a great surface to tape a disc cover on for triathlon.

Maybe Kinlin 30mm rims and run a disc cover for your sprints. Light and durable although the fron is really kinda shallow to be real aero in Tri. Of course you could always go with the kinlins and get a cheap 404 off ebay for the front with a disc cover.

I train/race on HED6/9 with powertap built in. I had the rear built with their Clydesdale option and use a wheelbuilder cover to race on. I weigh 185 lbs and haven’t had a problem with this set up.
