Wheel builder disc How long does it last's?

I have a wheel builder disc on a FP60 (training wheel now.) that gets mucho use. Not that my times show it but thats probably a out of my comfort zone problem for me. that I have to work on… :o)
Anyway back on subject . It gets alot of use and is put on top my car ( bmw roof rack if your familer with it.) alot also between rides and going to ride. Well the plastic around the plastic screws are becoming or are brittlle and three screws have already popped. I guess I associate this with being on top of car and rattlling around a bit. I have a wedge holder seat tire seaing thing on top of car that has a strap that gets fed through air fill hole and wheelbuilder edge on otherside. Anyone else notice a use life on their disc cover? Mine is about a 1 1/2 years old and probably about 2500 miles on it. I switch back and forth between three training wheel sets , race wheelset and two bikes.

I have a cover that I have had since 2005. It started on some Easton Vista wheels, migrated to a Blackwell 100 rear, and now will see duty on a Zipp 1080. I do not use the plastic screws. I just use electrical tape to hold it on, so none have even had the opportunity to pop out. Try that route.

Actually the reason I think it is still on is because I have a viny spiral graphic on it on both sides. Maybe I overtighetened them or it is the vibration from rooftop of car going 60-70 down the highway

I used mine for about 6 years with no problems (now using a Renn disc). As the PP said, just use electrical tape to hold it on (the stretchy vinyl kind). This is also more aero since it creates a smooth transition and the cover doesn’t dimple where the screws are.
