Hello all!
I have a pair of 650c Spinergy Rev-X wheels that I bought about 6 months ago.
The bearings need to be replaced, and I don’t know what kind to get.
Of course I want a good pair, but I have no idea who makes bearings. Which company makes the best?

Are bearings normally that expensive? O_o
He was funnin with you. Ceramic bearings can be very expensive. Go with a good quality steel unless you are worrying about every possible bit of speed, cost be damned. Boca also sells steel bearings. Phil wood sells very high quality steel bearings also.

Bearings are made to international standards, and there are only a few actual manufacturers: NSK, Timken, SKF (all the bike companies simply repackage bearings from the major multinationals). Just find a bearing distributor in your area (ex. Bearings Inc.) and bring in the bearing and they can get you an exact replacement (size, grade, seal type, etc.). The ceramics are a nice upgrade (make sure they are at least grade 3), but $$$.
Excellent info on bearings! I have an old set of Specialized 3 spokes that I need new bearings for. Thanks!
Follow the advice of Titanflexr. Find yourself a bearing distributor (Motion Industries) and save yourself some cash (ask for an SKF or NSK bearing).

Hey now, there were steel bearings on that link as well. $50ish for a whole set is not that bad…but allas, I would also just go to “Motion Inc” or “Berry Bearing” - most every city has a bearing wholesaler.
Whats the deal with ceramic bearings anyways? They seem like the biggest gimmick I’ve ever heard of. If i was shopping for bearings for my F1 car, I might consider ceramic, but at the speeds a bike wheel spins at, I don’t really see how they can help.
